VILLAGE GIVING CIRCLE LEADERSHIP

MEET OUR FOUNDERS

The Village Giving Circle was founded in 2017 by nine Black women who believed they had the power to help transform our community by investing our collective resources in organizations and initiatives that positively impact the Black community in North Texas and beyond. The goal was simple: encourage philanthropy among Black women and combine financial contributions to help local organizations address unmet needs. Amazing things happen when vision meets determination.

MEET OUR 2024 EXECUTIVE BOARD

RHONDA WILLIAMS

2024 VILLAGE CO-CHAIR

I'm overjoyed to be able to highlight the generosity of African-American women. I want us to be viewed as leaders across this country and across the globe--in the space of inclusive giving and making a lasting impact.. I want The Village to be the reference point for "this is how you make things happen"

RENEE SAMPLE

2024 VILLAGE CO-CHAIR

I'm so honored to be leading this effort and doing it alongside so many women I admire and respect. The Village is focused on sowing seeds of grace, generosity, and commitment to our community. Each of us...the members of VGC, are blessed beyond measure to be part of this movement. There is much work to be done and the best investment we can make is to support those organizations that are closest to the problems facing our community and best able to help solve them.

CHERYL BASS

FINANCE CHAIR

What's special about The Village is that we can all play a role and make a difference in our own communities and communities around the country. The Village is a model that can and should be duplicated --statewide and nationally. My hope for The Village is that we are able to touch more lives and inspire the next generation of Black women philanthropists.

KENYA RODGERS

COMMUNICATIONS CHAIR

Walking and living in your purpose is the greatest joy one can experience. The Village Giving Circle is one of my greatest joys and working with a group of brilliant and beautiful sisters constantly reassures me that I'm not alone. Onward & upward!

CORDELIA TULLOUS

MEMBERSHIP CHAIR

We have an amazing Village and there's nothing we can't accomplish when Black women work with each other and for each other. It's important to me that we empower our community to keep rising higher--to pursue entrepreneurship, to promote self-sufficiency, and then to reach back and bring others along with you. This the essence of The Village.

IRIS WILCOX

GRANTEE RELATIONS CHAIR

The Village is all about honoring the rich history of collective giving in the Black community. We're honoring that history and carrying it forward in a way that will last. History has demonstrated what happens when we band together to use our resources, our influence, and our collective power to impact our community--I love that we're doing that in such a beautiful way.

CHRISTA BROWN SANFORD

FOUNDING OFFICER AND LEGAL CHAIR

I love that I get to do this work with my sisters. Each year I'm blown away by what we've been able to achieve. I love that we get to highlight the many organizations in North Texas that are dedicated to making a difference in our community. We are building something special that will leave a lasting legacy of giving for generations.

LISA MONTGOMERY

CO-FOUNDER AND ADVISOR

Black women have a rich heritage of nurturing and caring for our community. Our resilience, strength, and contributions have been foundational in shaping society. This is our time to carry that legacy forward.
